The Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society’s Director General Shaykh Sayed Ali Abbas Razawi, its chairman Mr Shabir Beg and the committee were honoured to have held an Eid ul Fitr Celebration Dinner – about which a motion has been lodged in the Scottish Parliament – to mark the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan on 30/07/15 at The Village Curry House.

The function served to share the blessings of the passing of the Holy month of Ramadan with our esteemed, high level guests and to deepen our fellowship and extend our hand of fraternity with them in order to uphold our shared values of peace, charity and generosity, seeking to create a better future by fruitfully engaging with one another at an interfaith level, and on a civic and humanitarian perspective.

As such, we humbly thank all those who accepted our invitations and attended: religious leaders and delegates of the Scottish Catholic Church – including His Grace Archbishop Tartaglia – the Scottish Episcopal Church – The Very Rev Kelvin Holdsworth, the Church of Scotland – including Dr Angus Morrison, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland – the Methodist Church of Scotland, the Baptist Church, the British Army, along with Bill Kidd MSP Chief Whip of the Scottish Government, delegates from the European commission, Pat Watters the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Chairman, as well as representation from the health and welfare charities and trusts we are in partnership with, namely the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service, the Anthony Nolan Trust, Breast Cancer Care, Alzheimers Scotland, the Prince and Princess Hospice of Wales, and others.

We also extend thanks to Bill Kidd MSP for lodging a motion [No: S4M-13856] in the Scottish Parliament in honour of the ethos of this Eid Dinner and what it represents, and a thanks to all who supported it. Link

May this be part of an ongoing and fruitful fellowship.
